Biography

     Peter S. Resnik

 Chartered Financial Analyst

Peter is a hands-on executive with over 25 years experience in driving direction, change, and profitability. Through his management and advisory roles, he enables organizations to address and execute their strategic growth requirements or face and resolve financial and operating distress. As a result, the organizations have been able to:

  • Enhance sustainable value through sound analysis and due diligence of investment opportunities,

  • Develop and execute business plans,

  • Gain access to capital and improve communications with investors and strategic stakeholders, and

  • Improve operating processes and reporting of key metrics.

 

Commencing in 2001 through Tocqueville Ventures, LLC, Peter has marketed and provided professional services in part from Fortune 100 to private equity firms to start-up companies and non-profit community organizations in such areas as executive and crisis management, business plans for growth for high-profile ventures with regional and national scope, and acquisitions.  His integrated experience encompasses investment analysis and planning, corporate transactions/alliances and business development, capital raising and liquidity management, business operations improvement and profitability, and exit values.

 

Business Leadership: Among current engagements, Peter serves as Managing Director & CFO of Society Unlimited, LLC, an early stage, integrated digital entertainment media and brand management company.  Recently, he led two early stage medical device companies as CEO and COO to assess market opportunities and introduce the products to doctors and consumers, and subsequently sourced and closed the sale of one company to the leading industry player.  He has also served as a corporate development consultant to Blue Equity, LLC, a private equity firm and its portfolio companies, and to its various lower middle market investee companies.  Professionally as CEO/CFO (interim) or as volunteer Board Chair, Peter has also stepped out of corporate roles (for extended periods) to lead multiple community-based organizations (up to 250 employees) experiencing strategic growth and revenue diversification and/or financial and operating crisis, along with CEO transition and strategic planning.  

 

At high-performance organizations, Peter’s strategic and operational leadership roles have provided integrated business insights and execution.  For example:   

  • As Consulting Practice Leader at healthcare giant Humana, he (1) led cross-functional teams to launch new services and to solve and drive enterprise-wide operational improvements; and (2) assessed and led due diligence teams for venture investments and clinical integration including of an Oxford, UK consumer wellness device start-up.  He was recruited into this full-time role following his independent consulting engagement with Humana to draft a time-sensitive business plan for new product offerings with national distribution.

  • As Treasurer and Corporate Communications Officer at ARM Financial Group — a Morgan Stanley merchant banking investee company — Peter served as the main liaison to Wall Street for securing over $500 million in new and refinanced capital for acquisitions and organic growth (including a NYSE IPO and syndicated bank debt), and to rating agency and buy & sell-side investment analysts, and handled responsibilities for corporate development, public affairs, other general management, and the short-term investing and liquidity within the company's $10 billion fixed-income portfolio.

  • He has also held positions as Program Director for Business Development and Alliances at an industry leading software development company and as Director/AVP for Planning and Budgets and for Sales Support at a leading life insurance company. His career began as a corporate credit analyst in a bank management training program.

 

Industry Experience:  Peter’s experience spans industries. Primarily, he has been associated with consumer life insurance, health benefits, and institutional investments, and also with wellness programs and health screening devices and in consumer wellness and enrichment centers. In addition, he has provided advisory services for companies with national and regional focuses in spaces such as top-tier sports and entertainment, media and publishing, waste management, data integration, mortgage lending, specialty chemical, and life-cycle social services.

 

Professional Credentials and Education:  Peter holds professional credentials as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He earned his MBA from the Goizueta School at Emory University, with induction into national honor societies for both finance and accounting, and his BA from Kenyon College, where he has since served as a two-year chairman of the College’s annual fund campaign. His continuing education has included completing Six Sigma black belt training and the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School.  He has served as a speaker at insurance industry and corporate finance conferences in New York City.

 

Professional and Civic Organizations:  Peter is a past chapter president of the Strategic Leadership Forum and is a former Executive-in-Residence with Greater Louisville, Inc.  He is a Past Board President of JFCS, a human services and career development agency, and a current board member of Bernheim Forest. He has also served on the executive committees and boards of directors of various other civic organizations. He is a graduate of Leadership Louisville (1998) and has been previously recognized in Business First’s “Forty under 40” listing (1999).
